James I (1603-25), first coinage 1603-04, Shilling, 6.03g, m.m. thistle, .iacobvs. d.' g.' ang.' sco.' fra.' et. hib.' rex., first crowned bust right with square cut beard, wearing decorated armour, mark of value xii behind, rev. .exvrgat. devs. dissipentvr. inimici., plain square topped shield (N.2072; S.2645), a neat round coin with an excellent portrait, deeply toned, nearly extremely fine, very rare in this condition
