Coloured Die Proofs
The die proofs in colour differ from those struck in black, the double line in the rushes being absent. It is thought that they are all from the same master die, but that the working die was retouched. Most, but not all, of these coloured proofs are considered to have been produced in connection with the 1872 South Kensington Exhibition.
In pale brown on glazed card (86x56mm.), marked "Approved" and initialled "WC" (W.C. Sargeant, one of the two Agents General). Photo
