1854-55 One Shilling Brown
This value, like the 4d., was produced by lithography and was made up from positions [10-234] which incidentally contained the two re-entries, [170] and [171], of the 1d. value repeated four times to make up a sheet of 240. Only the swan portion of the design was used, the oval frame with blank corners being added later.
There were four printings of the 1/- value, July 1854, January 1855, October 1855 and November-December 1855. It is considered that the salmon and red-brown shades from the first printing, the grey-brown shades from the second printing, the pale brown shades from the last two printings.
