1854 Issue
½a. blue Die I cancelled and tied by diamond of dots on 1854 (2 Oct.) small native entire letter from Allahabad to Calcutta, manuscript "2/10/54" at lower left, the reverse with despatch and arrival datestamps and, upon receipt, a filing datestamp date 2 September in error. A very rare early usage of the ½a. value only issued the day before on 1 October. Sismondo (2008) and B.P.A. (2013) Certificates. Photo

Note: The writer originally dated the letter in September but realising his mistake altered this to October. When the letter was filed the clerk misread "Oct" for "Sept" and incorrectly entered the date of writing as "2 Sept."
