Colour Recipes: A collection of De la Rue colour samples with a block of four dummy stamps affixed to piece with the colour and recipe (where necessary). All refer to Indian stamps with particular reference to telegraph stamps deep brown, 25r. Tyrian purple, 25r. violet (red) with manuscript note, "Rejected November 9th 1871, and the old colour used Recipe No. 648" (previous item), 100r. deep purple, 500r. green, and 1000r. red (cochineal). Note that the original De la Rue record books housed these recipes on both sides of the page. The recipes on one side had the stamps removed, the page photocopied and the original stamps affixed to these. Five of the items offered here are on the original page, showing the other side on the reverse
