1859 (21 June) envelope addressed to the Isle of Wight bearing 1d. Stars cancelled by a fine strike of the scarce "H.P./1" branch office barred circle, the reverse with a good strike of "houses of parliament/s.w." c.d.s. code "E" (on flap which opens well for display) and Southampton transit; some arrival notation at left. A good example of this very scarce cancellation. Photo

It is thought that this cancellation was employed at the Houses of Parliament post office for about two months
