Percy Fitzpatrick, ornate border, red, capital decreased by overprint in black; together with other South African non-mining certificates (3), comprising Cape Stockfarming Co. Ltd., £100 share, 188[3], no.831, black; Johannesburg Brick and Tile Co. Ltd., £1 shares, Johannesburg 188[9], no.309, ornate border, black, and Premier Rubber Corporation of South Africa Ltd., 10/- shares, King Williamstown 192[6], no.2361, rubber tree at left, brown, yellow underprint, all very fine and better. (4)

Sir James Percy FitzPatrick, KCMG (1862 – 1931), South African author, politician, mining financier and pioneer of the fruit industry. He authored the classic children's book, Jock of the Bushveld (1907). Secretary of the Reform Committee in 1895 which conspired to overhrow Krugers South African Republic. Acted as go-between the Committee and Cecil Rhodes and Leander Starr Jameson in Cape Town and was later tried and convicted for high treason following the Jameson Raid. sentenced to two years but released in the same year. Continued his Government work and later became a member of Parliament on the establishment of the Union of South Africa.
