(†) Banco Nacional Ultramarino, Cape Verde, a group of specimen proofs, 16 November 1945, all zero serial numbers, comprising 50 Escudos, blue; 100 Escudos, red; and 500 Escudos, brown and violet, all portrait of Bartolomeu Dias at right, steamship seal at left, arms at lower centre, reverse allegorical woman looking out at ships, value in ornate guilloches at left and right, one punch hole
(Pick 44p, 45p, 46p), all ink cross and 'latest arms' at left, ink cross over portrait at right, deletion of COLONIA and annotation PROVINCIA on obverse and reverse, 'new design required', printed date '26. 2. 58' and annotations in margins, the first otherwise good very fine, the second extremely fine, the third good extremely fine and an excessively rare group of proofs in preparation for the later 1958 series (3)
