John II (AD 1118-1143), AV Histamenon, 4.38g, Christ enthroned facing, right hand raised in benediction, rev. facing half-length figures of John, wearing loros and holding akakia, and the Virgin, nimbate, holding between them a long patriarchal cross (Sear 1938; Hendy pl.9, 1-3), very fine, together with an Electrum Trachy, 3.90g, Thessalonica, of Manuel I (AD 1143-1180), the Virgin enthroned facing, MP - V either side, rev. Manuel and St. Demetrius standing facing, holding between them a labarum (Sear 1974; Hendy pl. 14, 7-9), good very fine (2)
