Lot: 580
Henry VIII (1509-47), third coinage 1544-47, Tower, Testoon, 7.40g, m.m. pellet in annulet, crowned bust facing, henric 8, rev. crowned rose dividing crowned h-r, adivtorivm (N.1841; S.2365), most likely an old field find which has since resided in a collection and toned over, various scuffs including an unfortunate, perhaps contemporary, gouge across the king's face, the flan slightly uneven as usual, otherwise a well above average portrait witht the eyes, nose and mouth all visible, generally very fine for this poorly struck issue and possibly the victim of an overtly political statement?
