Aethelstan (924-39), Penny, 1.44g, 'Church' type, York mint signed, Regnald, +aedeistan rx, trefoil of wedges after regnal title, cross pattée within inner circle, rev. eb / r / ac / a¯c / regnald / mon in four lines, the mint signature divided by depiction of Anglo-Saxon church or tower, ground line below, contraction mark between final a and c of mint signature, trefoil before and after mon (Blunt BNJ Vol.XLII, No 438; CTCE p.305; N.684; S.1100), minute area of flan loss at 4 o'clock, dispersed scratches under magnification, generally a very presentable piece with just light areas of weakness, good very fine or better, an unusual piece with the blundering of EBORACAC
