Aethelstan (924-39), Penny, 1.08g, 'Church' type, York, Frotier, +aede[lst]an rex, trefoil of wedges after regnal title, cross pattée within inner circle, no symbols in field, rev. fr / o[t] / ierm / mon in three lines, the first divided by depiction of Anglo-Saxon church or tower, ground line below, two small wedges between i and e (Blunt BNJ Vol.XLII, No 441; CTCE p.295; N.683; S.1100), c.20% flan loss and edge crack at 2 o'clock, flan mildly wavy, generally very well struck and in superb metal, nearly extremely fine
