Eleven gilt and enamel badges relating to the Miners' Strike 1984-85, including one each commemorating Joe Green and Davey Jones, who were both killed in the strike, and one for the Battle of Orgreave, generally extremely fine (11)
Mr. David Gareth Jones, from Wakefield, died amid violent scenes outside Ollerton colliery in Nottinghamshire, 15.3.1984.
Mr. Joe Green was crushed to death by a lorry while picketing in Ferrybridge, West Yorkshire, 15.6.1984.
The Battle of Orgreave was a confrontation between police and picketing miners at a British Steel coking plant in Orgreave, South Yorkshire, 18.6.1984. 95 miners, including Mr. Arthur Scargill, President of the National Union of Mineworkers, were arrested and charged with riot, unlawful assembly, and similar offences after the battle.
