64 Private Samuel Boulton enlisted 1st Battalion, 24th Foot, at Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, February 1874; he served with the battalion during the South African Campaign, 1877-79, and was killed in action at the Battle of Isandhlwana, 22.1.1879. His effects were claimed by his mother.
