Major Francis Henry Toovey Hawely, born 1860; son of Lieutenant-General R.B. Hawley, C.B.; educated at Eton (Dr. Warre's); commissioned Cornet, 2nd Dragoons (Scots Greys), August 1880; served as Adjutant, 1892-96; advanced Major, April 1897; embarked for service in South Africa, October 1899; died after three days illness at Bloemfontein, 27.4.1900.
