7807891 Warrant Officer Class II George Edward Rainford, M.M., born Chorley, Lancashire, April 1892; enlisted in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, 30.4.1908, and served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 12.8.1914; posted to the Machine Gun Corps, 23.2.1915; awarded the Military Medal for service on the Western Front; promoted Warrant Officer Class II, 14.1.1926; discharged, 18.8.1930, after 22 years and 111 days' service; subsequently served with the 15th (Bolton) Battalion, Lancashire Home Guard.
