Ten volumes of ""The Philatelist"" (1866-76) in fancy part-leather colorful hardcovers, with interesting early philatelic journal articles, advertisements, and, most importantly, the ""Spud Papers"", which have had actual stamp forgeries (most appear to be Fournier) affixed to the proper image space in each article, painstakingly sought out over the years by a pre-eminent collector and lacking only one forgery for completion; additional items include a volume of ""The Philatelic Quarterly"" (1877-79) with similar binding, a hardbound 1975 reprint of The Philatelist Indexes for 1866-76 and 1934-74, plus a 1950s reprint of the Spud Papers articles in a 168-page booklet; all in very fine condition; a Estimate US$ 3,000-3,500
