#398b, 2c Panama-Pacific, Lake shade, a handsome and remarkably choice mint example of this truly rare and distinctive shade variety, featuring rich unmistakable lake color and a strong impression, far better centered and margined than most existing examples, as nearly all are found quite off center to the right, o.g., never hinged, very fine; it is believed that only one sheet of this shade variety was printed, and few can compare in quality to the desirable copy offered here, in fact, this is the first certified never hinged example of which we are aware; 2007 PF certificate (F-VF 75 - quite conservative given this is among the finest available; SMQ unpriced as n.h.).
