Seljuq of Rum (Cilician Armenia), Kaykhusraw II, bilingual Tram, 2.97g, Sis, AH637, citing the Armenian king Hetoum I (Broome 1105; A.1221), extremely fine

These Trams were struck by the Armenian ruler Hetoum I (1226-70) during the period when he was a vassal of Kaykhusraw II. It is thought that they are the tangible result of a treaty signed between Kayqubad and Hetoum following a Seljuq victory in Alanya in 1228. They were all struck at Sis in Cilicia, and have an Armenian legend on the obverse and an Arabic legend in the normal Seljuq style on the reverse.
