1837 (13 Apr.) entire (less side flaps) from Nusserrabad "By overland route-Dromerdari dawk to Beirut-by Steamer from Bombay" to London, slit for disinfection, variously rated and showing, on reverse, circular-framed Rajpoostan Post Paid handstamp, circular-framed "india/Packet Letter/paid." handstamp in red and London datestamps (12.7), the face panel with boxed "paquebots/de la meditteranee" (2), "british/foreign" and London Two Penny Post handstamps; a rare item from Col. Chesney's final despatch of mail. Also 1862 letter from Major-General Chesney to the British Ambassador in Vienna, Lord Blomfeld, requesting an audience with the Austrian Emperor. Photo
