1839 (25 June) entire letter from Mangalore to London, carried by the steamer Berenice from Bombay (4.7) to Muscat and transferred on the steamer Hugh Lindsay to Basra and then overland to Beirut, rated "2/6" and with oval-framed "india" and London Two Penny rate handstamps, and 1840 (22 June) entire letter (small portions of face panel torn away) from Bombay "via Persian Gulph" to England, rated "2/8" and with boxed "india" handstamp on face and Calcutta datestamp on reverse
