The Duke of Wellington was made Ambassador to France after the Battle of Waterloo.

Foreign-Office, July 5, 1814.
His Royal Highness the Prince Regent has been
pleased, in the name and on the behalf of His Majesty,
to appoint the Most Noble the Duke of Wellington,
K. G. to be His Majesty's Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Court of-
His Most Christian Majesty Louis XVIII.
