Great Britain
King George V
1935 Silver Jubilee
2½d. Prussian blue in a left margin block of four showing part of the margin arrow, large part original gum, the lower two stamps are unmounted mint; light vertical crease in the margin. A rare and highly desirable multiple of this very popular stamp. Very few multiples still exist today. B.P.A. Certificate (2007). S.G. 456a, £62,000+. Photo

It has now been demonstrated that the Prussian blue is not a colour trial, but a genuine error of colour. Four sheets printed in this incorrect shade were issued in error by the Post Office Stores Department on 25 June 1935. It is known that three of these sheets were sold from the sub-office in Upper Edmonton, North London, up to 4th July
