1884 (30 Aug.) Indenture entered into for the loan of $50,000 against property on which duty was paid, showing fine $100 red embossed datestamp. The document was then endorsed in red ink on 23 March 1888 with regard to late payment of duty against settlement of parts of the mortgage at earlier dates which are recorded within. The penalty was paid with 1874 $25 and $50 (2) and 1888 $5, all tied by red embossed datestamps; the document with some discolouration and other lesser faults. A most unusual and interesting document illustrating, over a short four year period, the two separate types of revenue collection by impressed datestamp alone and latterly by adhesive stamp cancelled by impressed datestamp.
