1883 (25 July) Conveyance showing superb impression of albino $3 embossed handstamp with clear "stamp office/penang" datestamp alongside; some pinholes and paper clip stains in one corner. Scarce. Photo

Note: For several years there was complaint and concern that Stamp Duty was being evaded by use of adhesive stamps as it was seen that no record could be made of usage. The Government Gazette Notification of 13th October 1882 saw the re-introduction of Impressed stamps. This could only be done at Stamp offices and hence duty could be properly accounted.

Existing presses were only able to produce albino impressions without colour. The date although impressed on the stamp was repeated by the Stamp Office for added clarity.
