1896 (3 June) double rate officers unstamped envelope (250x125mm.) to England, marked "On Active Service. No stamps available. J.F. Burn Murdoch, Kaim, Comg. E. Cavry. Akasheh 3.6.96", showing Wadi Halfa Camp c.d.s. (7.6), boxed "T" and London "5d/f.b./b." tax handstamp and, on reverse, Cairo (14.6) and Sevenoaks (22.6) c.d.s.; the envelope with piece torn away at top and other small faults though a scarce item from the Dongola Campaign. Also 1898 (12 Oct.) envelope from Atbara to Cairo, bearing 1898 1m. (2) and 3m. twice cancelled by "s.p.s." c.d.s. with a further strike at foot, Wadi Halfa (14.10) and arrival (19.10) c.d.s. on reverse; central vertical fold which crosses 3m., otherwise fine
