— 1d. red with sheet margin at right and 1857-63 2d. pale blue strip of three and single, all cancelled "11" on 1859 (22 July) envelope from Ahuriri to London, marked "via Marseilles", showing red London Paid c.d.s. (additionally tying the strip) and, on reverse, fine despatch datestamp; the 1d. value creased prior to use and the 2d. values with a few small defects, nevertheless a remarkable franking, being the only recorded example of a single 9d. rate "via Marseiles" letter being paid in stamps prior to the August 1859 introduction of the 6d. stamps.
