1870 (28 Mar.) soldier's envelope "From No. 1149 J.F. Williams, Detachment 2 W.I. Regt." to Jamaica, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and bearing 1863-77 perf. 12½ 1d. red cancelled "A05", showing manuscript "1" in red crayon and with Jamaica Returned Letter Branch datestamp (8.6), the reverse with manuscript "The writer gone away", despatch, St. Thomas (15.5) and Kingston (8.6) c.d.s.; a few trivial imperfections though a rare soldier's envelope from the island.
