1862 (20 Feb.) envelope (overall age staining and flap missing), complete with letter, to Auckland, bearing 1857-63 2d. pale blue with clear to large margins and cancelled "081", Auckland arrival c.d.s. (2.3) at foot, Dunedin c.d.s. on reverse; the letter with interesting contents, headed "Waitahuna Goldfield", including "Am on the diggings, tho things dull, hoping for better times, new rushes taking place now and then, none of any great importance. One about 3 miles from here towards Gabriels sounds good, uncertain as yet". Photo
