CL, just shaved at right, good to large margins other sides and showing a portion of the adjoining stamp at left, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation to entire letter, dated 12 Nov. 1840, from Otley, addressed to Montague Square, London. Redirected to Kensington and additionally franked 1d. black Plate 1a IK, with good to very large margins and showing a portion of the adjoining stamp at right, paying the redirection fee, tied by experimental use of the black Maltese Cross and with another strike additionally cancelling the original franking, resulting in red and black Maltese Cross cancellation on one stamp; fine and, in many ways, a remarkable item.
