RC, good to large margins, heavily cancelled by red Maltese Cross cancellation, on entire letter, dated 9 Nov. 1840, from Douglas, Scotland to London, endorsed in red "above the ½oz" and "Paid 1d.", red Paid Tombstone d.s. on the front and framed red "douglas" on the reverse; the cover with a closed tear and filing folds, clear of the adhesive.
