Greetings from the Battlefield 1d. card to Johannesburg cancelled by a superb strike of the "Hoofdlager/Ladysmith/31 Dec. 99" datestamp in violet, thought to have been a mark applied at H.Q. to celebrate the end of the century; the card torn in half and rejoined, just affecting the left edge of the datestamp. Rare with only about six examples recorded. Photo
