Early Letters and Handstamps
1690 (25 July) entire letter ex the "Venturini" correspondence to Livorno from Etienne Marin and marked "Q.D.C."; the contents include "Yesterday morning the new Grand Master was proclaimed: Mons de Vignacour, Francois Lau being dead for eight days. Capt. Roux has come from Smyrna....I shall set sail tomorrow. Letters to me to be addressed to the consul" (trs.). Also two letters without the outer address sheets.

The first dated 1695 (26 Dec.) from G.&C. Garzin being a long letter dealing with shipping and the four captains stranded in Alexandria in penury. Ciarly's ship arrived 15 days ago from Naples and Roumania and was leaving for Hyerlem (Jerusalem) with money, jewels and household equipment. Gave details of business with France and Spain.

The second dated 1696 (29 Jan.) from Dominic Baldini stating the writer was financially embarrassed and needed help.
