1906 Typhoon: a collection of real photographs, each bearing a detailed description on the reverse, and includes five showing the rough seas at the beginning of the storm (when everyone should have been indoors) including one showing the Canadian Pacific mail steamer 'Empress of Japan'; a fine array of the devastation in the aftermath of the storm includes street scenes, numerous harbour views with damaged and destroyed ships and the masses of debris. A few of the photographs have suffered some surface damage, thigh this is usually confined to the edges and some of these photographs have appeared elsewhere. This is a very important set of images and a fantastic holding for and collector of the history of Hong Kong. (56 photographs). Photo
