Anglo-French Accountancy Marks
1846-55 Colonies/&c Art.13.: 1846 (23 May) entire, thought to be from Hong Kong, to Boreges, France marked "viâ Marseilles" changed to Southampton, several rate marks including "4/1", "15" in black ink crossed through with "42" alongside in blue ink, a good strike of the boxed "colonies/&c art.13." in red and "angl 2 boulogne" transit in red; the reverse with Hong Kong despatch c.d.s. and "luz/aux de barreges 8"; some soiling, the contents of the letter include references to Whampoa and Macao. An appealing cover and early use of the accountancy handstamp. Photo
