1898 (8 Jan.) commercial envelope to Lyon "Per French Post" bearing ½c., 2c. and 5c. tied by a fair strike of Chefoo Dollar chop, with French "Chine" 25c. tied by "shanghai/chine" c.d.s. with a further strike alongside and "ligne n/paq.fr.no.4" octagonal transit c.d.s. (15.1; the reverse with Shanghai Dollar chop (14.1) and French arrival c.d.s.; the adhesives are just overlapping the edge of the envelope and the ½c. has a tear. A rare and appealing cover used during the special reduced rate of 7½c. through the French Post Office (from 10c.) which was in effect for only about three months. Photo
