Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, a contemporary forgery of a $10, Hong Kong, 1 April 1894, no serial numbers, blue and salmon pink, arms of the bank top centre, value top left and right, two printed signatures below, the right hand signature of F.de Bovis, reverse red and white, arms of the bank at centre
(Pick 143 for type, Ma H11a, Cribb 2.34), a Barclay and Fry engraving. Handstamped FORGERY. This note and the following two notes are accompanied by a letter dated 'Singapore 5 June 1898' and written in French and explaining that these notes were believed fabricated in Germany and passed in Colombo (Ceylon) and Singapore. The author also states he believes a total of $221,000 were made by the forgers. Good extremely fine and most interesting and attractive and dated by the letter. Very rare and unusual
