George Washington free frank, signed "G. Washington" as Commanding General of the Continental Army, on folded cover addressed "To James Wilson Esqr. Carlisle", receipt docketing "G. Washington Jany 23d 1778", cover silked and with flap repair, fine.<<#>>This is one of the most desirable George Washington free franks extant. It was sent by Washington from Winter Camp at Valley Forge to signer of the Declaration of Independence (and one of the original six Supreme Court Justices), James Wilson. In addition, it is one of the very few free franks containing a second signature of Washington.<<#>>An outstanding and historically significant George Washington free frank.
