For more information on the Middleham Civil War hoard, cf Barclay & Besly (1994) 'A Little Barrel of Ducatoons: The Civil War Coinage of Yorkshire'. The hoard was discovered in June 1993, totalled 5098 silver coins (distributed between three pots) and is the largest civil war hoard ever found. On page 45-6 Barclay & Besly list the distribution of Irish coinage as follows; Pot A - 1 coin, Pot B - 7 coins, Pot C - 2 coins. Therefore, this lot comprises the entire Irish constituent of the largest Civil War hoard ever to be discovered.
