Pinches, London, 45mm, gold (58.71g), obverse featuring Queen Victoria facing left, reverse featuring two figures representing Health and Education standing before a globe, 'The International Health Exhibition' above, 'London 1884' below, extremely fine (BHM.3175; Eimer 1704)
The medal, commemorating the International Health Exhibition that ran from 7th May until the 30th October, was struck at the Royal Mint. The obverse was that originally designed for the Ashantee Medal 1873-74. Approximately 254 gold, 538 silver, and 820 bronze medals were produced.
