2067 Sergeant Allan Marchant Besant, enlisted in the London Regiment, and served with the 20th Battalion (Blackheath and Woolwich) during the Great War; killed in action on the Western Front, 1.10.1916, on which date the Battalion was involved in the attack on Eaucourt l'Abbaye, and is buried in Warlencourt British Cemetery, France.
