3334 Private William Charles Davis, born West Ham, London; enlisted in the London Regiment, and served with the 16th Battalion (Queen's Westminster Rifles) during the Great War; killed in action on the Western Front, 10.9.1916, on which date the Battalion was involved in attacks on the Loop Trench and the sunken Combles Road near Maricourt, and suffered 307 casualties, and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
