Captain Christian Richard John Day, O.B.E., born Upper Holloway, London, May 1892; enlisted as Private in the 15th (Civil Service Rifles) Battalion, London Regiment, 1.9.1914; Commissioned Second Lieutenant, Army Service Corps, 28.11.1914; served with the 26th Divisional Train, A.S.C. during the Great War on the Western Front from 16.1.1915; promoted Lieutenant, 1.8.1915; Captain, 20.4.1916; twice Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazettes 1.1.1916 and 30.12.1918); relinquished his Commission, 12.4.1919.
