#9, 1c Blue, Ty. IV, position 1R1L, recut once at both top and bottom, a magnificent quality mint example, in a condition that is almost unheard on stamps from the classic imperforate era, being an eye-arresting top left corner sheet-margin single, and boasting incredibly large margins all around, including huge sheet margins at both left (with full guide line) and top, as well as showing portions of the adjoining stamps at right and at bottom, deep rich color and impression, full o.g. that has been relatively lightly hinged, superb.[cr][lf][cr][lf]A magnificent original gum example of the One Cent Blue Imperforate Type IV. Easily one of the very finest in existence, with few (if any) whose margins approach the size that this stamp displays.[cr][lf][cr][lf]Accompanied by 1995 (for a strip of three from which this stamp was taken) and 2000 (as a single) PF certificates, as well as a 2008 PSE certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; $7,000.00 as 98, the highest grade they price); the only example in the PSE Population Report to have been awarded this extraordinary grade, with only one grading slightly higher (100 n.h.), which recently realized $80,000.00, plus the buyer´s premium, in a New York City auction.
