#312, $2.00 Dark blue, mathematically perfect centering amid lavishly large margins, deep luxuriant color and a well incised impression on bright paper, o.g., lightly hinged, a superb gem.[cr][lf][cr][lf]This phenomenal stamp possesses absolutely perfect centering and its margins are incredibly wide. One could search for a lifetime and never find another whose centering and margins could compare. This stamp has been awarded the ultimate grade of Gem 100 by the PSE and is, of course, the only such example to have achieved this amazing grade. Altogether this stamp´s remarkable physical characteristics highlight the incredible artistry and beauty of engraved United States stamps of this era - truly a miniature work of art in the finest condition attainable.[cr][lf][cr][lf]Accompanied by a 1999 PF certificate and a 2007 PSE certificate (Gem 100; SMQ $4,300.00 as 98, the highest grade they price and completely irrelevant to the value of this stamp).
