1597 (19 May) letter and wrapper dated at Bishops Aukland from the Bishop of Durham, "To the right Worshipfull my very loving friend ffrancis Slyngisbe Esquier at Scryven". The letter, making some mention of the post and refers to journies to Carlisle, is signed "Tobie Duresme". The wrapper is soiled and much of the seal is missing. From the Gerald E.
