1860 (12 Feb.) entire to Paris, marked "Via Suez Marseille", bearing 6d. dull purple-slate tied by "paid" in circle, showing handstruck "8" (decimes) and, on reverse, oval "packet letter/mauritius" and arrival datestamps. Initialled "AD" (Alberto Diena) alongside adhesive. R.P.S. Certificate (2013) states "stamp did not originate on this lettersheet", a view with which we do not agree. Photo
