1879 (24 Apr.) firms printed envelope to Alexandria, bearing 1d. red Plate 209 pair and 2½d. rosy mauve Plate 13 paying the 2½d. letter rate and late fee of 2d., each cancelled by fine to superb "942" and with boxed "paid/late fee" and Larnaca c.d.s. alongside, arrival c.d.s. (26.4) on reverse. The earliest recorded use of this handstamp, having been dispatched from London on 4th. April, just twenty days prior to the despatch of this letter, and one of only two examples known prior to the issue of the Cyprus stamps in 1880. An exceptional and important cover. Photo
