EARLY LETTERS AND HANDSTAMPS
1849 (14 Mar.) envelope (complete with letter) from Lord Dalhousie (Governor-General of India, 1848-56) to Major-General Sir John Littler at Calcutta, the letter (repaired with sellotape at folds) headed "Camp Ferozepore" deals with a legal matter to be dealt with by as the Deputy Governor of Bengal; both signed "Dalhousie"; a rare and important letter signed by Dalhousie who was generally considered to be one who laid the foundations of the Indian Rebellion.
