Italy, Savoy, Charles II (1504-53), Ducato, 3.46g, undated (c.1504-07), Chambéry, + karolvs. dvx. sabavd. p:c, cuirassed bust of the youthful Charles, with cap and long hair, right, pc for Pietro Balligny, rev. + in. te. domine. confido., shield dividing fe-rt in quadrilobe (Biagi 280 var. R10: CNI VIII, 136 var.; F.1034; Morosini 4a; Simoneti 6 var.), very fine, one of only two or possibly three known
Morosini (writing in 1984), noted one example, sold in a Leu-Hesse auction in1970, now in a private collection. This second example appeared in the Numismatica Genevensis auction 3 (30 November 2004, lot 756), where it sold for the hammer price of CHF 81,000. Friedberg notes 'three known', but we do not have any knowledge of a third example.
